Welcome to Our Parish!

Saint Barbara Church is a missionary parish of Orange County in the state of California, founded on October 1st in the year of 2006 by the blessing of Kyrill, Archbishop of San Francisco & Western America, Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

The year of 2006 was a special year for all of us, Orthodox Christians, because it was the 1700th anniversary of the Great Martyr Barbara's repose in The Lord. The second Divine Liturgy in the newly founded parish happened to be our Parish Feast, which came that year exactly on Sunday, December 17th - the very day of Great Martyr Barbara's commemoration - a great gift from God for us! It is one more reason to notice how God can plan everything wonderfully!

The Russian orthodox Parish in Orange County is a long awaited event for us, living in this area for a while. Being taken away from our Homeland, where we had endless opportunity to visit Orthodox churches, because we had a lot of them almost in each corner, we still do not want to be separated from our rich spiritual tradition. With this hope in our hearts, we put our trust in God and asking Great Martyr Barbara with all of our New Martyrs and confessors of Russia and all Russian saints with the Most Holy Theothokos to pray for the salvation of our souls here in America.

St.Barbara church is run by a small, but faithful group of parishioners, Russian-speaking emigres. We live and think in the terms of Old Julian Calendar, as it is in Russia and the Holy Land, and as it was during the time of Jesus Christ. The services are conducted in the Church- Slavonic Language, but we insert some English singing as well, if we have native English-speaking visitors in our parish.

Our parish doesn't own any specific building, so a place for our services is in a temporary location, but we set up a building fund, where we accept any possible donations for acquiring our own church building. We believe, that somehow God will arrange a building for our church, so we can have services more often and more people will be able to find their way to God through our modest efforts to serve His providence about us, sinners. With all that in mind, we are also planning to run a Russian school for children and organize a sisterhood.

If you would like to make a donation, please make it to "St. Barbara Russian Orthodox church" and mail it to our mailing address, which you can find in the "Contact information" section. For credit card users: you can make your contribution right here on the top of this page by cliking on "Donate" button.Your donations are tax deductible because we are a nonprofit organisation.

Please, be patient with us, because we are still learning how to do many things.

Also, we continue to work on our web site, so it can be more informative and illustrative, but we ask you to look from time to time to check what we've got new on our web site.

We are asking for God's blessings for all of you and hope for our parish to grow in all good venues!

Welcome to our services!
